Fresh from the kiln
It’s always a nice boost to look over new pieces and follow the colours and shapes to see what interesting journeys they may take me on.
Recently we were able to complete a raku firing which means this beautiful new work will soon be coming to the site for sale, but before it does, I would like to invite you to be among the first to view it!
Here is a sneak peak!
THE COLOURS and craters REMIND ME OF what the view might be like
standing on Mars,
– John Noble
Mars tugs at the human imagination like no other planet. With a force mightier than gravity, it attracts the eye to the shimmering red presence in the clear night sky.

My first thought was…sunset.
Oh I could see that too! Great observation, thank you!
To go along with the space theme, it sort of reminds me of the crew capsules used in the Apollo space missions. That texture is just super-cool, as is the coloring. Beautiful piece. 🙂
Thank you Mike! Is this what you were meaning? https://ids.si.edu/ids/deliveryService?id=NASM-A19700102000-NASM2016-04272&max=900
Yes, exactly! I was fascinated with this stuff as a kid (still am) and model rocketry was a hobby of mine for years, so the shape of the vase reminded me of the general shape of the capsules. Cool photo–good find! 🙂
