Do you Consider yourself
a multi-tasker?

  1. I read recently that ‘multi-tasking’ reduces the brain’s efficiency and quality of output considerably. That likely means it’s not great for anything where a modicum of concentration is required and ‘not being good at multi-tasking’ might be a benefit, rather than a negative.

    1. Thanks for sharing that piece of information. I can see the truth in your comment. It’s a shame that we are often told that ‘multi-tasking’ is an important skill. I suppose it depends on the tasks. I am sure it’s usefulness decreases with the complexity of the tasks involved. Thanks for sharing this information. I hope you are having a great week.

  2. Multitasking is an illusion. There’s always time and focus lost when switching between topics. I do consider myself easily distractible, and I quite often change tracks because of one shiny object or another. All of my multis wind up running together in an odd sort of mash up, if I get anything done at all.

  3. I can very much relate to your comment. I think one of the exceptions for me is when I am cleaning, but that may be because over time I have made that in routine. For anything else I need a plan on paper to do multi-tasking effectively, or there needs to be a natural break in what I am doing and another project that fits in that time frame. I hope you are well and having a great week!

  4. I do multiple things but try not to do them simultaneously. I think my painting inspires my writing; my writing inspires my painting. Movement, be it hiking in nature or dancing in the kitchen, inspires both. I will listen to music though while I am cooking. Thanks for asking.

    1. Thank you for sharing! that is very neat to hear about your process for inspiration and how they inform each other. Hope you are keeping safe and well 🙏

    1. thank you! much appreciated! Hope you are keeping safe and well today at owlstation! sounds like a fun place for owls to hang out! 🙏

  5. I used to think that multi-tasking was the way to succeed but now I know that it is a way to drain yourself without consciousness. It’s best to go slow and steady, concentrating on one at a time to feel whole.

    1. this is very true. it can be tough to remember it though when there are so many inputs! life is indeed a work in progress
