Keeping The Piece

Keeping The Piece

I decided to keep this piece from the last firing.

This piece was slow cooled in the kiln,
and there has been some great crystalline formations on it!

And I think I finally have this glaze working the way I’d like!

If you like this, you can see more of my new crystal pieces – including ones for sale – right here.

May peace find you wherever you find yourself!

Where do the crystals come from? I assume you add something to the glaze… do you have any control over where they form?

    1. thealchemistspottery Avatar

We don’t have control of where they form, it is random and you are correct that is an addition to the glaze 🙂

That’s what I thought. It’s one of the hard things about pottery, waiting to open the kiln and discover what happened. (My mother is a ceramicist.)

yes! the waiting is the best and worst part!

Oh my gosh — this is amazing! I know nothing about ceramics, and have always been in awe of how you can manipulate clay (or other materials) to make swirls and dots and streaks and different hues. Your work is inspirational.

Thank you! That is very kind of you to share. It has certainly taken practice!
