Witch’s Broom Nebula

Description

Inspired by the luminous clouds of the Witch’s Broom Nebula, this raku vase captures the wild beauty of a star’s final breath. Bands of deep crimson, electric blue, and luminous turquoise sweep across the surface like cosmic gas drifting through space.

The Witch’s Broom Nebula is part of the vast Veil Nebula—a glowing filament left behind after a massive star exploded thousands of years ago. Its swirling structures stretch across the sky like celestial brushstrokes, echoing the organic movement created in this raku firing.

No two raku pieces ever emerge the same. During the firing process, flame, smoke, and oxygen interact unpredictably with the glaze, creating rich metallic tones and layered color fields that resemble distant nebulae and galaxies.

This vase is both sculpture and vessel—a small fragment of the cosmos brought into the home. Each shift of light reveals new colors and textures, much like the glowing gases of a nebula drifting through the universe.
