We have had our first taste of winter here at the studio this week and it sure looks pretty, even if the cold is a bit of an adjustment! Usually, if we are lucky, this is the sort of snow we get just before Christmas.
Many of you may have surmised that I am working on building up my pottery studio with the intention of creating a livelihood that I love. It’s a lot of work, but one of the things I enjoy most about it is developing new items that I hope people will appreciate having in their home.
Winter has decided to make an unseasonably early appearance – even here where I live in Canada we do not get snow this early. Yesterday we had snow most of the day, and I must say I do not remember it ever snowing this soon, but apparently it is the last call for Fall.
I am excited to share that we have reached 127 percent of our total goal to bring ‘A Potter’s Dream: Myths & Legends’ to print. Which means that in less than a month I will be holding a physical printed copy of my first book ever in my hands!
Tiresias’ Prophecy’ tells the tale of blind creation, an ancient oracle, an instant gender reassignment, a spat between gods, and a lesson all men should be sure to take heed of – the woman is always right.
Our vase today, ‘Iris en Ciel’, tells the tale of sisters on opposite sides of a war, loyalty to the gods, travel by rainbow, and a goddess with a sweet tooth who was a messenger that would give the postal service a run for their money while bringing your prayers to the gods.
The winner of the draw will receive a copy of the book and their choice of one of the following, a Buddha necklace, Christmas ornament, or a rakutie (small scale raku vase).
