Our next piece, ‘Niobe’s Tears’ is named in honour of a small town girl who made good by marrying Amphion, the king of Thebes. Everything would have been fine had she not bragged about her 14 children at a ceremony and talked smack about Leto not being as fertile. The Realhousewives of Thebes would have a tragic end. While it is true Leto only had two kids, they were the divine twins Apollo and Artemis, who promptly killed her children. Zeus later took mercy on her and turned her into a rock to turn her feelings into stone, but even as a rock, Niobe continued to cry.

Moral of the story – not everyone wants to hear about your kids.
