Morning In The Frost Forest

“All that is gold does not glitter,

not all those who wander are lost;

the old that is strong does not wither,

deep roots are not reached by the frost.”

from an area just slightly lower in elevation to The Alchemist’s Studio garden

– J. R. R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

This morning it was 2C/35.6F.

The frost just missed us.

  1. In western Pennsylvania, I usually have to take the house plants back into the house the first week of October. I’ll be planting the spring bulbs very soon so that they are safely underground before the frost begins. I love the quote with the photos.
