Getting Closer To The Shortest Day!

We are nearing the end of 2021!

And that means we are soon hitting the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. For only 10 more days we are in that nether world where the days continue to get shorter and the nights darker.

This is the season where I literally crave light, This craving gets stronger and stronger before the snow comes as it can be very grey and gloomy for many days.

So what better way to bring warm light in than harvesting the light of candles!

  1. As far as darkness this time of year is concerned, for me it’s more of an emotional darkness, where my depression and fatigue intensify throughout the winter months (a bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder). So, it becomes “darker” in that regard. I must have some ursine tendencies because it feels like I want to hibernate. There’s not a lot I can do about it other than stock up on hot chocolate (and pizza!) and just keep hoping for spring’s arrival. 🙂

    1. I can relate to your ursine tendencies! I have always viewed winter as a time to step back and reflect and rest up for the coming year ahead. The lack of light affects me too. Last year, I took to moonlit snowshoes around the woods in our yard. Embracing and making the most of it seemed to help with the seasonal slump. You can’t go wrong with pizza! And lots of thoughts of spring!

    1. Thank you! I hope the same as well. These past few years have been rough. Peace and love to you 🙏
