Life In Colour

“Colour is a power which directly influences the soul.”

― Wassily Kandinsky

We put up new wallpaper over the weekend and wanted to share it with you in case it may
help brighten your day with a splash of colour.

Have you done any upgrades to your home during the pandemic?

We would love to hear about
it in the comments!

  1. We’ve done two upgrades to our home during the pandemic. First, our washing machine broke, so we upgraded to one that works.:-) Second, our air conditioner broke. Again, we upgraded to one that works, just in time for summer!

    1. Congrats on the upgrades! We were once without a washing machine for a few weeks, and I laugh when I think about doing laundry in the bathtub, which I did for awhile. Not many laundy mats in the country! Glad you got the air conditioner in order for the summer!
I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. A beautiful poppy wallpaper! We have not done anything like that indoors as such but I have landscaped the front garden, to make it nicer to sit in. We will be spending a lot of time at home especially in the garden, so may as well make it inviting to use…

    1. There is something magical about sitting outside in a garden. Glad to hear you have such a beautiful space to enjoy while at home. I’ll be doing a lot of that too this summer with my never ending gardening projects 😉 So good for the soul.
I hope you are well and have a wonderful weekend!

  3. We finally got around to removing the wallpaper in our hallway. We’ve been in the house for 6 yrs and it’s been on the list, just at a lower priority. So a fresh coat of paint and repainted the door trims and it looks wonderful! We also just refreshed our screened in porch with new sectional furniture, new carpet and curtains. It’s always been my refuge but even more so now!

    1. Removing wallpaper, particularly if it is older is no easy task. I remember doing that once over the space of a few days because I think they had used more paste than paper! I bet the hallway looks fabulous now! And there is nothing like a fresh coat on the trim to brighten things up. Your screened in porch sounds like a magical refuge! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and get to enjoy it!

  4. That is fantastic wallpaper and looks so good with your pottery.
We did new shelves in the kitchen …suspended from the ceiling! They look great and keep the counter clear.

    1. Thank you so much for your very kind comment. I am happy we did it. It makes me smile every time I come into the room. Those shelves sound so cool. Are they open (no doors)? They would definitely keep the counters clear, which is a big battle in this house at times!
I hope you have a great day and enjoy the weekend!

      1. That does sound cool 😊. Something to consider for next year, when tackle the kitchen in earnest.

    1. I just looked up the Morris collection, and wow! They have some beautiful wallpapers, and a long history. This paper is from a website called spoonflower and was designed by ‘bamokreative’. The website does print on demand wallpapers done by independant designers. They have some really amazing designs.
Thanks for the mentioning the Morris collection. We may do another accent wall in the house, so I will check them out more thoroughly.
I hope you have a great day and weekend!

    1. Thank you so much for the wonderful comment. I appreciate it and you! I hope you have an amazing day and weekend!

  5. Awesome paper!
The only upgrade around here over the past year has been a lovely vase I got from a certain potter in Nova Scotia. 😀
I am getting the back garden fenced soon though as the first step towards getting a little doggie.

    1. A new little doggie? That’s amazing news. Mine is curled up beside me now. They are such good company and friends! I am so excited for you. Plus a fenced garden always feels kind of magical!

I don’t know if you are trying to make that potter in NS blush, but you just did 😉
It’s so funny, because I remember making that vase so well and how it resonated with you. It was like magic!

I hope you are having a good start to the weekend, and I hope the weather there is good. We are supposed to get some rain here.

    1. Thank you so much for your very kind comment! It’s funny, I never actually thought about that when we picked it out, but once it was up it sparked a lot of joy and that was definitely a part of it!

I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend.

      1. Hi Miriam! I have tried to, but there does not seem to be a follow button. I think it may require first having a blog post so that the blog can be followed, though not 100% sure
