Ceramics is the oldest form
of technology we have.
After cooking meat, baking clay was the first thing that humans did to chemically alter our environment on purpose. You can’t make rice without cooking it in some kind of vessel, so clay pots go hand in hand with agriculture – our whole evolution is connected to it.
There’s only a short period of history in which people haven’t been connected with pottery. There’s something incredibly grounding about an experience that connects you with the past like that.

Pit firing is an integral part of who we are as a species.
Pit-fired pieces have been found created by civilizations the world over with a story that goes back 30,000 years.
There is something inherently and deeply human about the process which is why we wanted to bring this proposal to you – our fellow humans.

‘Wild Horses’ – because when I saw it I saw free, wild horses galloping under an iron-grey sky… 🙂

I’m going with Beryl. No reason. The vase just struck me as a Beryl.
It instantly reminded me of this other named vase, Brunhilde: https://rakupottery.ca/brunhilde/
That’s interesting! I was just reading about Beryl. The more I read, the more your vase seemed like Beryl. 😂
Nice! Ill check it out! 🙏
Would love to learn ancient pottery.
Love this. The story you bring to mind of the history of pottery and humans both touched and intrigued me. Wonderful.
There is much to learn from this, especially looking at different cultural takes. We humans have been an innovative bunch!
You could name it Ancient Aliens because of the gray abstract face showing in the photo.
Amazing, I think the connection of human beings to pottery is something that must be explored to the fullest!
There is definitely much to learn in this area. Many lifetimes have in our collective history have been spent transforming raw clay to pieces of dinnerware/art etc. It’s inspiring to be connected to all these people and civilizations through pottery
Thanks for liking my post.
