Nice to see your description of both the creative process and how you travel the narrow road to the final product. I think it is so important for viewers to know that there is a transition that takes place – and that the finished product grows out of the playfulness and the “I wonder what would happen if I…” attitude that is so important. My background is is in painting and my process is very similar to what you illustrated. I refer to it as “bringing order to chaos.” by altering the materials, editing, eliminating and adding. For the past decade, I have focused my work on mixed-media fibers – specializing in talismans and wall works and I must use adaptive technologies for the blind to do my work since 2007. In whatever medium I work, the process remains as you described in your ceramic works – Nice presentation and thanks for sharing.
The “I wonder what would happen if” is so much fun! It can lead to very interesting results and also to sometimes just not working but the fun is in trying and exploring. That is very interesting that you do this work using adaptive technologies as well, a layer of perceiving I had not thought much about as a person with relatively full sight.
