Name That Vase – December 2020

It’s time to share our winner and feature another vase in need of a name! Welcome to my monthly feature – ‘Name that Vase’.

For those who are new to this feature, ‘Name that Vase’ is where you can suggest a name, create a story, poem or prose for this raku pottery vase. Consider this your chance to be inspired, a writing prompt or a creative cue. You can check out a ‘Name that Vase’ post to see how it works, or if you are feeling nostalgic, you can check out the first ever ‘Name that Vase’ post that started what has now become a monthly tradition for our blog and readers.

This month we have a very special vase for your naming, but first we must congratulate last month’s winner Tish Wolfsong for their name and write-up!

Congratulations, Tish!

A Desert Morn

Reflected sunlight hails a new dawn.
The desert waits, knowing the sun will bake it hot as a kiln before darkness descends once again.

  1. That is a remarkable piece. Well done!

    Mount Vesuvius.

The black core Stone cold and serene
When Kissed by Fire Strives to be seen
Into the sky She boils and sweeps
falls down to bury In eternal sleep

    Memy

  2. “Turquoise Sunrise”
    Brightly shining upon the horizon
    Glistening effervescence hope is enlightened
Molded by mercy, grace and wisdom
Within the creators hand we rise out of a system
    Faith restored, harmonious balance
Breathing new life into each challenge
Unity, the new theme of the day
Bow your head, allowing fears to be washed away

  3. A New Morning
The sun rises, bathing all creation with it’s light. Darkness fades. Warmth returns to bring new growth to the land. Let all creation rejoice.

  4. Beautiful vase! My name for the vase is “Spirit”, after a song by Earth, Wind & Fire. Lyrics below –

Many years has passed and a day
Still we walk in a path that leads to the light
Shining down on this great beyond
Thoughts ignite us, let love unite us
Then turn your face to the wind
    And taste his love within

    You’ll find a friend
    Everlasting love you can depend
And every time you smile, you bless a child
    Our spirits perpetuate
Our spirits meditate love and faith

We must make our brother see
    That the light is he
    Shining on you and me
    And the land he gave
    Roads we must pave
    Looking through each others eyes
    Humanity will rise
    In love
    Hey, in love
    In love
    Yeah, in love

    And our spirits
    Ooo, they will be one
    Yeah, they’ll be one
    Be one

    Wishing you a safe and successful 2021! 🎊 🎉
