    1. Hi Vidur! They are similar in that they both use a reduction process, but the pit firing is done in an actual pit with wood and a fire and then oxygen is deprived from the firing. With raku that is also the case, but it tends to be pulled hot from the kiln and added into a reduction container like a garbage can.

      1. Thank you so much for the information. I have a friend here in India who is a studio potter….and on each visit there I enjoy learning about the academic part of pottery too. So was curious to know the difference, if any. Thank you!
