Wow! Is the pit-firing the same as what is called raku-firing?
Hi Vidur! They are similar in that they both use a reduction process, but the pit firing is done in an actual pit with wood and a fire and then oxygen is deprived from the firing. With raku that is also the case, but it tends to be pulled hot from the kiln and added into a reduction container like a garbage can.
