I made this piece ‘Election Box’ before the 2016 election. You will notice that on the left side, where the choices are, there are stock symbols for companies like Monsanto, Haliburton & Walmart instead of candidates. The dollar sign beneath the choices, refers to all the donations these corporations make to both political parties.

The chain running through the mechanisms, lead to the inevitable conclusion that we all lose when influence over public policy is bought and paid for by corporations whose sole purpose for existing is usually self interest and shareholder profit.
In the top right hand corner of the box there are some screws, and above it the word ‘You’re’.

Shipping included in US and Canada
This should be a bipartisan issue for both parties, but both are reaping the rewards. Imagine, if all the money used for campaigning in elections was used to actually help people?
This piece – like most on this site – is for sale for $140, inclusive of shipping. Maybe one of these companies will buy it to destroy it? For them it’s double.
If this piece is a little too square for you, maybe you would like to check out some of our raku pottery vases here.
Great post and of course the corporations hedge their bets by supporting both sides making it a win win situation. I always feel voting is a waste of time the one those in power want will be put into the seat of being controlled.
Very interesting. In our country the right wing party gets much more donations than the left. They should restrict donations definitely…..

The gist of my morning takes on my podcast on Anchor is the same because two old white men canβt change the landscape of our American reality πΊ show. Trumpence is ya same bitter π and uncle Joe Biden Harris another version of the same old white bullcrap π©π©π©ππ₯°ππΎπππβοΈππ―πππ₯³

I love it.
I haven’t viewed a second of debates or so-called news on our election. I’ve had enough of the hate.
Great idea!
thanks Richard!
Oh wow. I like how you included social commentary in the piece (and it’s beautiful to boot).
Thank you, DW! I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comment. I hope you are doing well! π

Very clever! I am frustrated with the elections because they are surrounded by hate and corruption. I don’t listen to the news anymore because it’s not worth my time. “The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind” – Bob Dylan
Being mindful of what news is around has definitely been helpful for my mental health as well. Glad you found that helpful as well! π
Iβd never heard of political pottery before, and I love the idea! (Iβd heard of political poetry, similar enough to look at, but not more powerful than this? I can imagine people walking by it and never realising what it communicatesβ¦ neat.)
Thank you, Matt! Glad I was able to introduce you to something a little different π Hope you are keeping well! π
Iβm already a fan of it! Hope youβre staying well too!
Wow. Profound, dare I say, “edgy” in smooth contours, much like the big idea of yours of political and government finance needing huge overhaul– and yes, yes, yes — you are spot on.
Thank you Jane! So glad you like it! π
