On The Wheel Wednesday – Transformation

Before

We all start as raw clay and in time are shaped by the potter’s hands – transformed into something beautiful.

After

Little did we know, all this time, we were the potter.

What’s one thing that you would like to change about yourself or the world?

    1. I love that you played with more pottery terms in your comment. Thank you for that! I hope your day is going great today, Allan!

  1. Empathy and compassion is lacking in most of humanity. If you don’t share that with love, respect and common decency, how can you expect it in return? As you mold clay with gentleness it becomes malleable. Beautiful piece! Always a pleasure to see your creations😊

  2. I always love the amazing gorgeous pieces you create but there is something so lovely about shaped earth. Thank you for sharing these pictures as well as the good thoughts behind how we ourselves are molded and shaped.

    1. Hi Jane, thank you for your comment. I think there are a lot of similarities in creation of art and life, and that life overall is an act of creation. There is much to learn! I hope you had an excellent weekend!

    1. Thank you, Ashley! I am glad it resonated with you and hope you have a great week coming up!

  3. Beautiful vases and wonderful question, Jay! To be able to continue to remain resilient and in the creative Flow as I live every moment is my first response.

As I picture you in the Creative Flow of your work, I can mentally compare it to our “work” of living life as being an art. Life itself is change. The living of life requires the same ability to remain malleable and responsive to the creative spirit, as the clay must for the potter. 💞

    1. Well said, I completely agree. Thank you for commenting and I hope you are doing well

  4. I wish the world was more prone to love and kindness, rather than anger and hate. I hope we can achieve that someday. And that’s a beautiful vase, by the way! 😀

    1. Absolutely. We are co-creators. Thank you for your comment, I hope you have an excellent week to come!

    1. Hi Julia, I can understand that very well. My pottery helps me in that area, thankfully. Thank you for your comment, I hope you are well

  5. a beautiful transformation; and a thought-provoking post. I would like to be less reliant on others for my happiness, and more reliant on myself: as you say, we are the potter. thanks for an inspiring post

    1. Hi John, Thank you for your comment and for following my blog. I hope the same for myself as well. I hope you are having a great day so far.

  6. Nice analogy right there.

Hmm… what’s the thrill in knowing what i want to change? I’ll see as i ride along! 😀

    1. Reminds me of a favourite quote of mine: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” – Hunter S. Thompson

Thanks for your message and I hope you have a great week!

  7. A beautiful transformation, Jay. Me, I am always a work in progress and endeavor to make a difference in a positive way. For the world, I wish for peace.

    1. Hi Florence, thanks for your comment! I hope that you are able to do that this upcoming week should you like! Thanks again!

    1. You are most welcome! Thank you for your lovely comment and I hope your weekend was fantastic!

  8. Possibilities, potentials.
I would love humanity to believe in these things. We all look at things without actually looking at them and as a result, we miss the possible potentials of these things. I love your work, it is filled with so many possibilities which you always look out for, thereby, creating a wonder. If it were up to me, I would love to change the way we look at things so dismissively.

    1. Thank you for your kind comment, I hope to continue to do that each day, and also hope that you have a great week coming up!

  9. If I could change anything, I want people to be open to new ideas, different races, cultures, and possibilities. Only because we were flexible clay, nature molded us into our human forms. And we became the beings that Allah came to love.

    1. A lovely thing to allow for yourself. I hope you can do this as well and that your week goes well.

    1. Thanks! It was still somewhat wet when the photo was taken. Have an excellent day!

  10. I want to change people’s perception of the world’ we are on vacation just passing through. There is no point collecting alot of materials as you can’t take it to the next world, there is meaning in giving and sharing and dancing barefooted, feeling the ground, smelling the cute aromas of the beautiful foods and embracing different cultures and making someone smile, we dont got forever.. Quit worrying and comparing and start to live, even a little – my wish is to see more people coming at life with this kind of attitude

  11. The pot is beautiful portraying your dedication and devotion with love. Like humans are nurtured.
I recently found out my fears which I want to end and am working on the same.

    1. That is a wonderful realization. Thank you for sharing it and I hope you have a great week.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it and hope you are having an excellent day

  12. I love seeing your work in progress, it’s nice to have a tiny window into someone else’s journey. I am a work in progress, always evolving and adapting. I think the older I get the more accepting of myself I become, flaws and all. That said it would be lovely to have a good grasp of the time concept. It’s always been such an abstract thing for me. An hour can feel like a week and a month like a day. Perhaps that’s why my blogging attempts are quite random. Maybe that might be a good thing to change.

  13. I have such respect for your ability to create a beautiful piece from a block of clay. My one semester of pottery in HS revealed how difficult the process is. I love that we have the ability to shape ourselves and our lives into that which we desire, and like the pottery process, it can be difficult. Also like the pottery process, sometimes we must start over, but there is always beauty in the process. ❤️

  14. What a great thought to begin my day. One of my favorite prayers is for my heart .to be soft and pliable so that the Creator can do what is best for me. It is an interesting dynamic to consider myself as the Creator. I took a pottery class recently – before the corona crisis cut it short, and I was unprepared for how challenging it would be! My instructor said, “you are the boss of the clay, but it has to be just right to obey. “ so I am practicing to be the boss of the things that are just right, and not forcing situations or people to be anything. I can only do my part, but my part must be done. Thanks for the inspiration and reminder today!

  15. Great post with the perfect pictures to go with it. If I could change one thing, it would be that no one go hungry or lives on the streets.
