For those who are new to this feature, ‘Name that Vase’ is where you can suggest a name, create a story, poem or prose for this raku pottery vase. Consider this your chance to be inspired, a writing prompt or a creative cue. Wow this is so gorgeous! When I saw this, it reminded me of a sunrise in spring time. So my suggestion is “Hope Rising in Springtime”. Right now with everything so uncertain, it’s wonderful to know we can count on such things as sunrise and sunset. It’s the promise of a new day ahead that gives me hope and encouragement no matter what the day holds. Thank you for a terrific way to connect with all of us!

Monet’s Garden
In Monet’s Garden
where the water lily blooms,
and the cherry trees glisten
with ethereal spinners at their looms,
wisteria lingers near the bridge
spanning an hour across forever;
winter long forgotten
as to the moment, spring surrenders.
The vase is stunning… the shape and the colours… maybe my favourite so far. It reminded me at once of an impressionist painting and of pink cherry trees in bloom, so this was the name and poem I came up with.
Giverny in spring is beautiful… I was fortunate enough to go there once. It can be toured virtually, here, for those looking for something to do in quarantine: http://fondation-monet.com/

It reminds me of cherry blossom against blue sky. The wind wavering the petals so you see the inside and outside of the blooms. Buds of green about to burst. Not sure about a name. Cherry Serenade?

The Serpent Godess’ Gift
the seamen were tired
storm had raged endlessly
the shipload was lost
doomed was the ship
centuries died away
corrosion had taken over for long
sea monsters roamed the wreck
when the serpent godess of depths
in her deep yearning
for her secret lover
found a piece of the load
and painted it with the colour
of the upper Aegean waves
to please her godly lover
and bind him
centuries died away
the kingdom of gods faded away
the godly gift
was disgorged by the sea
washed up on a vast beach
left to the hand of humans
found by a seaman

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the vase was the Greek sky, but then I noticed the pink which doesn’t go with a sky. So I’m going to call it “Grecian Goddess.” 😉

Hello, it is a very beautiful piece, I would call it “Wisdom”, because it seems altered, but tender colors of blue, maybe spring, maybe hope, is illuminating the vase.

This April vase is so pretty and the colors are so spring-like. It looks like pink flowers against a blue sky. The cracks look like thin branches with cherry blossoms adorning them. I will call this vase “Cherry Blossom Sky” (sounds like a Bath & Body Works product, but that is what I see!)
Or even Cherry Blossom Breeze!
