The snow is blowing and this potter will be throwing!
Snow days are perfect for creating. Snowed in? There is only one verb I am interested in knowing and it isn’t shoveling!

A warm cup of coffee is fuel for this snowy day. I may need an extra cup when it comes time to clear the driveway!
What would you do if you had a snow day?
May I repost that coffee mug?
For sure! It was a thrift shop find 😁
Thanks! That’s a serious score!
Lovely pictures!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy them
Shovel snow, blow snow then drink a hot beverage and play internet. Gotta do the snow first!
definitely nice to get it out of the way so you can relax!
I would have to clear the driveway and salt it to keep the ice off and the drive clear to go in and out of the house. Then change clothes sit down in front of the fire with a nice cuppa coffee.
thats a nice way to do it! the hot drink at the end is motivating for me
Oh yes hot drink in the warmth of the home.
hike, make snow angels, drink a cuppa hot choc by the fire — and write! 🥰
sounds like a lovely way to spend a day. thanks for your comment, Kristin!
Lovely photos! I agree; snow days are perfect for creating new ideas.
as long as there are not too many in a row and then cabin fever sets it I am good!
So peaceful and beautiful and yet so harsh when you pick it up. I love snowy days because we don’t get them here in Phoenix Arizona, we have to drive to them which is usually only a couple hours away. If I did have a snowed in day I would probably find an old black and white movie to watch with a cup of cocoa and a big bowl of popcorn.
Whoops. one more thing. I love the photos, looks beautiful there.
Thank you! The snow ups the coziness factor for sure. Having an option to go to snow if you like sounds lovely, then you can shovel or drive it only when you choose to. Movies, hot chocolate and popcorn are proving to be popular choices!
Read. I love to read without interruption and the beauty of the outdoors (snowy) is the perfect mood setter. ❄️ 📖 ❄️
Definitely is a lovely setting to read.
Luckily I am in a area of California without snow… sometimes I miss it – but if I want it, I can drive to it…
I am a summer girl… so my spirit animal I would have to say would be a bear – because I remember from Massachusetts – if it snows – I want to hibernate … in fact even here in California – I wish I could hibernate all winter!!! Just wake me in the spring lol
I do not like being cold and the older I get the more that is ✌️
I come alive in spring/ summer … winter I am sleepy and hate being cold… spring summer I want to do everything
I also do not like darkness at 5pm 🤨 … so I go to bed even earlier making me feel really old
Not really a winter person lol ✌️ … I need Hawaii … if it wasn’t so expensive (lol) but yeah … ahhhh Hawaii ❤️
snow and darkness is definitely not for everyone! I definitely see the benefits of being in a warm place like Hawaii!
On a snow day, I love to get a good work out by shoveling snow. Early. Folks normally get there cars snowed in and I might help dig um out. It’s a great workout and you get to meet folks. Then, I come back in and brew a giant pot of coffee snuggle in and people watch from my window with a steaming cup.
That sounds like a lovely and generous way to spend a snow day while also getting some time to yourself.
It’s a nice feeling. It really is.
Make snow angels. 😊
that is fun! i like doing that too.
IN Florida we don’t have snow days, but if we did, I would make hot cocoa and settle in with a good book. Love your photos!
thank you! cocoa and reading is proving to be loved by many for a snowy day!
I’m sure, those things are good most anytime!
A snowday is perfect for relaxing at home in my jammies!
Pajamas make the coziness go up 10x! Wonderful!
Beautiful, I miss seeing snow!
I feel that way in the summer when its super hot. Less so when it is everywhere like right now haha. Thanks for your comment, Judy!
I understand how that is, brrrr! ❄️☃️❣️
This is my favorite way to enjoy snow – in photos! I live in Florida so the best I can hope for is a cloudy or rainy day. Honestly it’s tricky to carve out time to be creative when it’s sunny and bright. I grew up in the Midwest which meant sunny days were not as frequent and demanded outside activities. I’ve had to adjust! Commitment and discipline are necessary for any serious endeavors – but bonus to you if the weather cooperates!
Definitely a big bonus if the weather cooperates! Thanks for your comment, Sherri!
I’m here in Nova Scotia with you, in this snow!!! I’m blogging too!!!! 🙂 🙂
It’s a pretty great snowy day activity!
Agreed!!!! 🙂
I would be doing photography 📸!!
Lovely! What do you like to take photos of?
Flowers mostly but my eyes see beauty in nearly everything.
We’ve only had a precious few days of snow in Sweden so far this winter. I would just run outside and get myself all covered in snow if winter finally came. I wouldn’t have the discipline to stay inside and be creative. 🙂
I totally understand that if you have been waiting for it! It is lovely when it finally arrives
Somehow I’d find a way to just sit outside with a hot cup of something, scatter lots of seeds and things for the birds, and just “listen”. I love the sounds of silence, birds, and crunching of snow as people edge their way through it.
By the way, wonderful “Canada” meme, but since when did Canadians drive on the left?
that is a great point! It is on the right. Admittedly, I found that image online, and clearly it is inaccurate. We definitely have snow like that in some areas of the country, depending on snow storms etc.The snow makes things much quieter so when the birds are chirping, it makes for great juxtaposition.
I am admiring the beauty. 🙂 Luckily I don’t have to shovel it 🙂 It’s the day after here, and sunny.
Oooh not having to shovel makes all the difference 🙂
That’s true 🙂
In central northern MN, I clear the snow and then sit in my warm home and admire the snow on the trees and the drifts the wind would create.
A lovely way to spend the time, the way snow moves can be so entrancing.
I would definitely make some chili and make the day a sleep/slumber day with warm covers and thick socks!
Add a couch fort in there and that is an awesome day in my books!
Great photos. Right now w have snow, ice and negative temps. Hot coffee, reading and writing are the order of the day.
Winter is great for those quiet activities. Lovely!
only frost in the nights. that is okay with me. Reading a lot, some painting if the light is okay. thinking about some things at length 🙂 trying to sort out things for my sale, 30 % offf my books, at least.
The light can change a painting from moment to moment
Probably spend most of it shoveling snow 🙄 it looks like you all have gotten a lot more out of this last batch of storms than we did- pretty pics!👌
thanks! I hear you on taking time to shovel – do you have a large area to shovel?
Just a path through the alley next to the parking lot- and a sidewalk in front of my place- but it takes forever esp if we’ve had a big snowstorm.
Write write write!
A wonderful thing to do!
Truth!
Lovely pictures! 🤩 I love the mug, I’m always looking for mugs with funny sayings or comic book characters on them. 🙂 If I had a snow day I would catch up on some housework while listening to some audiobooks. My TBR list is far too long, thankfully the year has only just started. 🤣 I hope you have a great week!
Thank you! you too! have a great read as well!
Ideally, stay inside and work on quilts while enjoying the snowy view from the window. 😃
That sounds double cozy!
Kindness loves your blog 🕯🕯🕯
Thank you!
I’d build a snowman!
Fun! Gotta make sure to have that carrot nose!
I wish we had snow days. I would snuggle under a warm blanket drink hot chocolate and either read or pull out my notebooks and create. Snow days sound like great days.
You could pretend a day is a snow day and do those things anyway 🙂
Knit all the livelong day!
What wonderful things you can make as well!
I’m with you on the shoveling! Lots of that going on in my neck of the woods.
Great mug, by the way! What a terrific thrift store find!
Yes, thank you! It is exciting coming across those treasures!
There is magic in a midnight walk in a snow covered landscape illuminated by a full moon. The silence is beyond description. (I have had many blessed encounters with wildlife at these times: Fox, Deer, Coyotes, Rabbits.)
That is very true. How wonderful to have had those experiences.
I live in Central Texas, and even though I am literally allergic to cold, I love seeing snow and even being out in it (the 20 minutes of hives I suffer after I warm up is worth it). We never see snow here, pretty much, so it’s awesome the rare times we even get a little. Thank you for the photos. I especially love that “foggy” look that some winter days have where there is snow–you have one photo like that in the article, and it’s just lovely.
Thank you, we are near the ocean so the fog can come in like that any time of year, but in the winter/cooler weather it often sits closer to the ground for longer
I love snow days! We don’t have to shovel it because we live in an apartment complex, which is an advantage of apartment living. I like to drink coffee by the fire and be creative on snow days.
Do you have a fire place in your apartment?
Yes, and we love it!
Thanks for reading and liking!
Same to you, Kenneth!
Being recently retired every day is a snow day! But I’ve been so busy taking care of “business” I have yet to jump with both feet into something new and fun. Working on it, though!
I am sure it will come in time. Congrats on your retirement!
We had a snow day a short while ago. I always enjoy looking at the snowy environment, though I’m not happy to hear about any accidents that have happened. After I’ve enjoyed looking at the snow and taking some photographs, I get back to my writing.
I definitely agree. The slipperiness of the roads is a part of winter I dislike as well
I’ve not experienced snow but I can imagine what it feels like. The photos tell a lot. Nice coffee mug 😍
Thank you Florence! I have lived in snow my whole life so a winter without it seems missing something, but of course it is not. I hope you are able to experience snow if it is something you would like to do!
I had many snow days back in New Jersey and spent the days away shoveling and throwing. Now in Texas? Not so much and frankly, I can’t say I miss them 🤷♀️
I definitely understand not missing shoveling!
Enjoyed your pictures so much!
thank you, Leanna!
Here in [cough] God’s country, we get snow once or twice a year, and the lovely stuff melts away in a day or two. Seeing these photos just reminds me how lucky I am to live where I live! Good luck with the white nonsense, and stay warm!
It is nice to play in but less nice to shovel. 🙂
I agree. Snow days are perfect for creating! Whether it is cooking a wonderful new soup or throwing pottery or just playing with your crafting supplies!
It makes it so much easier to not do other things since “oh I am snowed in anyway! Might as well indulge in creating!”
I don’t know where you write from – are those winter pictures of where you are?
I used to live where I could (and DID) get snowed in (I miss it here in Dallas), but even if I was there now, technology has made it harder and harder to NOT be able to work my DAY JOB, and everything would continue as though I was in the office.
UNLESS I lost my internet connection. That’s the REAL snow day in today’s world – when I don’t have people or the temptation of frivolous entertainment reaching out to me, Then there’s a chance that I can sit down to write, away in my own, isolated wilderness.
Nova Scotia Canada here, so snow is not out of the ordinary either. Life goes on when it comes – and you are absolutely right that the internet makes snow days different.
Beautifully done. Anand Bose from Kerala
Thank you, Anand, for your kind words as always. I hope your day is going great!
Snow days are always welcomed in my house. They have been scarce this year. Thanks for your post.
