A Winter Sunset

Around here, winters are often grey and snowy, so when the sun breaks through the clouds, it makes it all the more special.

This painting is to celebrate those moments.

      1. Storms on Friday night. Cold and cozy since then. Very nice indeed, thank you! Hope you are having a great weekend too! And I love your pottery, owls especially are awfully on my mind 😊

    1. I love the blues of winter! One of my favourite artists, Lawren Harris, from the Group of Seven captures winter blues so magically in his works. Hope you are well Marica! Say hi to Missy and Rocky for me 😉

    1. Thanks for taking the time to comment Allan! I hope you are having a great weekend and keeping warm!

    1. Thank you Mark! I am often fond of saying that nature is my church, so your comment is very much along those lines. I hope you are having an enjoyable weekend!

    1. A fresh snowfall in the winter brings so much light into the world on those sunny winter days after the storm 😉 Thank you so much for your very kind comment. I very much appreciate it!

    1. Thank you so much! It helps me get through the grey days of winter when we do not see the sun for what feels like weeks on end!

      1. You’re very welcome! 😊 And yes, I can certainly understand that! The winter months can feel so long and depressing, sometimes. I imagine painting helps a lot!

      2. Anything to bring some colour to all the grey! Though today is sunny, but -20C. LOL Hope you are well!

      3. Haha I really appreciate that! We could definitely use more color right now! And thanks so much! I’m doing quite well. I hope the same for you! 😊

  1. Wow that is spectacular! Seriously beautiful! The way the light is captured in fragmented colours and shapes… divine.

    1. Thank you for such a beautiful and kind comment Lia! I really appreciate it and I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!

  2. <3 Wow! If I understand correctly, your next step will be the stained glass?

If you ever get the chance, take a whole day to feast on the lights of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona ( and if on occasion you have an owl, I'll come, offer you the tapas and leave with the owl! ) 😀

    1. Thank you for your very kind comment Amy! I hope your weekend is off to a great start so far!

    1. Thank you! Very appropriate as I have always felt that nature is my church. I hope you are well and have a wonderful weekend.

  3. Gorgeous! There’s nothing like a sunny winter day, and you captured it beautifully in your painting. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for your very kind comment Shauna! We are having one of those sunny winter days today, though it is accompanied by bitter cold as well. I hope you have a great weekend!

  4. Bright and subtle at the same time. A snowy blue ground-feel but a bright orange and a perfect yellow intrusion balance it with optimism. I like the darker yellow on the right that defines the horizon and enhances the perspective.
