In Gratitude

My crowdfunding campaign for my first book is drawing to a close, and the one word that is coming to my mind is …

THANK YOU!

I am grateful to all of those who have chosen to support this effort, not only financially, but by sharing it on social media and those who have offered their kind words of support. Your encouragement inspired me along the way and that helped make all of this possible. I have learned so much from this experience and all of you.

I wanted to take the time to update those who have supported the book about my timeline for this project. The book will be sent to the printer this Friday and I should have the printed copy of the book in late November. I will be sending out the books and pottery perks shortly after, so you will all have your goodies before Christmas! We will keep all participants updated by email as we progress towards that goal.

For those of you who were considering getting a book, you still have a few hours to do so through the campaign here. We will also have a few copies available once the book is printed that we will be available on this site, and of course the book will eventually be available on Amazon and other sites.

You can stay up to date on the latest news and developments about the book and everything else that is going on by following my newsletter here and don’t forget Christmas is coming. We have some beautiful raku pottery ornaments available for purchase, along with ceramic trees and other gift ideas.

Thank you again for your support in this project. I very much appreciate it – especially as we move toward the busy time of year that is the holiday season.

What do you usually like doing for the holidays?

  1. That’s exciting! Made me smile. What do I usually like doing for the holidays? Honestly, I just enjoy the quiet of those holy days and the internal peace they bring.

    1. That is beautiful! I do like to take some time to relax and find some peace and rest over the holidays too. Best done while watching the lights of the tree twinkle across the room 😉

  2. This is great news. As a child, I felt the holidays were magical and I still do. I’m not referring to the religious aspect or the commercial aspect by buying gifts. I love feel of spending time with family and friends. My hubby and I put up a little tree and enjoy each other. The older one gets the more you appreciate just being.

    1. That is very beautiful. I enjoy relaxing times with family and friends. I usually have what I call ‘an orphans dinner’ on Christmas Eve, which is essentially inviting people who do not have anywhere else to go for the holidays, and those who just want to join in the fun. It is one of my favourite parts of the season, that and cutting down the tree and decorating it!

    1. Thank you for the reminder! I am finally starting to get back to a more normal pace, and your reminder is quite timely! Hope the rest of your week goes very well for you 😉

  3. “White Christmas.” Charlie Brown. “Christmas Stories Every Child Should Know.” All dates and versions of Scrooge– including cartoons. But most of all I love the old Christmas carols.

    1. Oh yes Charlie Brown! I love the older versions of Scrooge, but no Christmas is complete without watching the Grinch and It’s A Wonderful Life 😉 Thanks for commenting Marica – I hope you are having a good week so far.

    1. Thank you! That is actually possible, as we have some crab and scallops in the freezer from friends 😉

      1. I’m not a fan of turkey – so depending on if my Brother is having dinner with us or the in laws I just sauté scallops- Mom steams up shrimp and we partake of les fruits de mer for our holiday dinners 😊🤗😋

      2. oh lala! Are the scallops wrapped in bacon? Thereby combining to delicious things in a perfect pairing? Sounds like a nice feed 😉

      3. No- I usually serve them avec beurre blanc sauce. Sometimes in a lemon and white wine reduction with caramelized shallots – honestly you really can’t go wrong ! 🤗😋

      4. You can’t go wrong with that! You had me at butter and white wine reduction! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far. Now I am hungry!

    1. I took a look at your campaign. I would suggest a few things. Try to have more perks at various dollar amounts. I was fortunate to have pottery to pair with my book. What could you pair with yours? You can also add special one off perks throughout the campaign. Don’t be afraid to contact people directly by email or share on social media. That was the hardest part for me. Check out my campaign to see how I did the perks, I believe you can still access it.

      1. I hope it helps! Keep trying new things until you find out what resonates with your audience!

    1. Thank you so much for such a kind and supportive comment! I hope your weekend is full of living your dream 😉

  4. Congratulations! I would have support it with some money but….. I don’t have a credit card!
Long story as to why. Congratulations, I myself have my first poetry book on Amazon and is very exciting really even if very few people have bought it, quite exciting to even self publish. I have one now, you can get in on Kindle or the on paper and it arrived today on paper, having it in my hands I can truly say is something, physically touching it and knowing that some people read it. I imagine it´s the same for you, a sense of accomplishment. You’re a true artist that the world, or me at least and quite a lot of others need to see your sculptures and literature.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comment Charly! And … Congratulations!!!! Great job on getting your book published and printed. That is no small feat as I found out. A lot of hard work and heart goes into such a venture. I will have to stop by and check out your book. I am looking forward to holding mine in my hands. It just went off to the printers and the I approved the proof yesterday! Hope you have a fantastic weekend. Savour your achievement and the moment!

  5. So cool your book is almost done! I’m writing my first book right now and man is it a process. Can’t wait for the rewarding feeling that comes with being finished. Congrats!!

    1. Thank you so much for your very kind comment! I hope you are able to get to that feeling soon, there is nothing like it! Are you doing your own layout for your book as well? I found that almost as challenging as writing it 😉 Hope you have a great day!

      1. Thank you! I am doing my own layout, but I just began working with a story coach who is doing a developmental edit on my book to help me out with structure. It’s so challenging! But worth it.
