Are You Ready For Last Call?

It seems like it is a weekend of last calls around the studio!

Winter has decided to make an unseasonably early appearance – even here where I live in Canada we do not get snow this early. Yesterday we had snow most of the day, and I must say I do not remember it ever snowing this soon, but apparently it is the last call for Fall.

By Tuesday all the ‘white stuff’ will be gone.

I was playing around in the studio yesterday, making some little vases. I was throwing off the wheel, and going pretty quick. Below, pictured are some of my ‘tiny’ creations, which may not look like much, but below I will show you some of the ones I have done previously.

These all need some cleaning and trimming, as I was wiring them off the wheel.

It’s also last call for finishing up my book, as it goes off to the printer at the end of next week. It is an interesting feel to finish and bring something new into this world. I am excited it’s finished, but also I am looking at anything I can do to make it better before I have to let it go into the world. It is a little nerve wracking. Can any other writers relate?

It has been quite the journey getting the book to print and I could not have done it without the people who have supported my crowdfunding campaign. I want to thank all who have participated, by purchasing my book, sharing my campaign, and for all your kind words of encouragement!

We have reached 141 percent of our total goal to bring ‘A Potter’s Dream: Myths & Legends’ to print. If you have been thinking about getting a signed copy of ‘A Potter’s Dream: Myths & Legends’, now is the time! This is the final weekend of the campaign! You can be a part of ‘the dream’ by clicking here. If you are unable to support the project financially, please consider sharing our campaign on social media.

For those thinking of participating, I have decided to include a special ‘little’ surprise to the next three people who do so – a ‘tiny’ vase. Not just for people who live in tiny homes! There are also options to get the book along with various pottery items, like vases, Christmas trees, ornaments, jewelry or even raku owls.

Finished tiny vases. The white piece makes me smile!

They say things come in ‘threes’ and it will soon be last call for Christmas orders. If you have been considering ordering anything as a gift for Christmas, or would like something to arrive before the holidays, check here for more information about what we have available. In order to ensure receipt before Christmas, it is important to place your order before the first week of December, which the snow tells me is sooner than we all think!

What do you think of our tiny vases? Eventually I want to have a ‘little’ collection of various sizes for the studio.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind wishes! It means a lot! Hope you have had a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thank you so much for your very kind comment! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!

    1. Thank you so much! The roads are pretty good, it is just the driveway that is icy. The temperature was supposed to go up and melt everything, but it may take another day or two.
I wanted to thank you for getting the book, and I want to send you one of the tiny vases I made. Do you have a colour preference? The vases are really tiny, but they won’t add to the postage 😉

      1. Oh wow, thank you so much! I don’t normally “do” books any more but the photos you post are so beautiful. I don’t really have a preference – we kinda learned not to have anything ornamenty around my daughter, but she has her own place now.

      2. That makes it even more special that you would choose to get a book. Thank you so very much for your kind support!

  1. Rather unique. Snow in the East and the West in the same day. Lawns were bare here yesterday after a night of rain. This AM, 10 cm of white stuff awaits my shovel. Enjoy the weekend. Allan

    1. That is funny. You are right, it is usually one side of the country or the other this time of year. I am pretty sure for us on this coast it is going to be a harsh winter, which we seem to get every three years these days. Hope you had a great weekend too.

    1. Thanks! I am not sure why, but they make me smile. At some point in 2020 I am going to post a picture of a series of vases smallest to the biggest. Hope you had an amazing weekend!

    1. It’s been a few years! More into the cross country skiing, but it is all crusty and icy. Hope you had a great weekend John!

      1. haha! We have family that migrate to Arizona for the winter and they do their own version of desert snowmobiling on quads 😉

      2. There ya go!! I’ve thought about buying one and a trailer but don’t have the storage for it, my garage is small for a 2 car garage.

      3. Ironically the snowbirds called about 5 minutes after I posted my last comment! It’s too bad, I imagine you could go out on some nice photography trips on the quad.

      4. I sure could, there are too many places here to mention. I could rent a storage unit for a few bucks a month but the idea of an investment like that in a unit seems sketchy. I worked for U Haul about three years go and understand what can go on in some of those places. It depends sharply on where the location is. Could have moved back to Michigan 3 years ago after the D but chose to stay here where the deep cold is found above 4000 foot!

      5. I can appreciate wanting to stay where it is warm. I like winter for about the first month and then I am usually done with it 😉

    1. Oh that means a lot Christine! We do accept paypal, and the book should be on amazon as well sometime in December!

    2. I will also send you a tiny vase if you do end up purchasing. I am sizing them so they can fit in the book envelope without increasing the postage costs! Hope your weekend has been good!

      1. I am really sorry to hear that. Hopefully you are able to alleviate the pain somehow and take a bit of a rest. You always seem to be on the go!

  2. Good evening, your last call list radiates excitement & joy. Your hard work is shown clearly through your shared images. Good luck with your book. I wish you all the best. I would like to thank you for liking my latest blog post “Sunrise Resolutions Pearl 🌇🕊”. It meant so much to me. Have a lovely evening & stay warm 🌸

    1. You are very welcome and thank you so much for your very kind words. That helps the joy keep flowing and inspires more hard work and refining of the work I do. I hope your weekend was full of good things! It is chilly hear, but that helps me move faster when doing things 😉

      1. You are more than welcome. I feel the same as a blogger. Motivation comes within kind comments and support. My weekend was all about long sleep, it is like all the tiredness of the long working days during the week were felt during the weekend. What about yours? I hope it was more than sleeping 😆 Will that is a good side of a chilly weather. It is sunny where I live but with less heat than summer and cool winds. A perfect weather for a walk. I would like to let you know that I nominated you for Sunshine Bloggers Award, I hope it’s okay with you & you are more than welcome to have a look at my latest blog post regarding the nomination and I would like for you to answer my questions as well, if you like 🌸

  3. We’ve had 3 snow storms already since October and I’m well south of you but most likely higher altitude 😉
Love the shape of the white piece and the color of the other is fantastic.

    1. I am guessing you must be west of here near the mountains 😉
Thank you so much for your kind words! I thought the tiny vases would be a nice way to say thank you to people who are getting my book without increasing postage costs!

  4. The tiny vases look like ancient (and beautiful) pottery you would see in an antiquities display at a museum- must b the crackaleur 😊 And it’s never snowed up there before early November?

    1. Not in recent memory, if it has it has been a number of years! Thank you for your kind words. Maybe one day they will be in some sort of a museum – a potter can dream 😉

      1. I am near a large bay that has a warming effect and usually keeps the snow away until December. At least half the time we do not even have snow by Christmas. Gotta love those micro climates 😉

      2. Ahhh yes- Nova Scotia has a bit of that marine influence. We have the Appalachian plateau effecting our region- sometimes it’s snows even if it’s well above freezing. Luckily it rarely sticks around long.

      3. It is very neat how micro-climates work and being near the Appalachians you would certainly experience that too.

      4. Yikes! Keep warm! Cold and brisk this morning. Just letting the studio warm up before I throw 😉

    1. Thank you! Last night is snowed and today it was 15C. I made the most of it and spent the day in the studio with the doors open 😉 Hope your week is off to a great start.

    1. Thank you so much Maxwanette! I really appreciate all your encouragement and support, and you being your wonderful self! Hope this week is off to a wonderous start!

      1. No worries Maxwanette! I don’t always get to my comments as soon as I would like. Thank you and Namaste and One LOVE!

    1. That is a very kind and wonderful comment! I love seeing people make their dreams a reality, as there is magic in that. I hope your week is full of magic!

    1. Thank you! Yes winter is hear early! Enjoy the beautifully warm temperatures where you are!
