Things have been busy here at the studio. There have been lots of exciting things happening! I have been getting everything ready for a project that is very dear and near to my heart – ‘A Healing Vase’.
We wanted to take this opportunity to announce ‘last call’ for our ‘A Healing Vase’ project. It is not too late for you to participate, but please do so by commenting on this post. I don’t want to miss anyone who may want to participate.
What is the healing vase project?
For those of you not in the know, ‘A Vase of Healing’ is participatory art project for those experiencing grief or pain. My concept for this piece is to allow the process of raku and the flames of the reduction process to act as a healing tonic for your grief and pain, for mine, and for all who to choose to participate in this process collectively. The end result – transforming pain and grief into an object of beauty. You can see some examples below of what we can create together through this collaborative process:
You may be wondering how you can participate in this process? The answer is simple. I am asking you to share one of the following in the written words of your choice:
- The type of healing you are seeking in your life;
- The name of a loved one you have lost;
- Something you want to let go of that is no longer serving you in your life; or,
- The name (first name only), of someone you want to send healing energy too.
This project and your stories have touched me deeply and I am honoured that people from all over the world are participating in this project. So much so that I will be including the story of ‘A Healing Vase’ in my upcoming and now fully funded book, ‘A Potter’s Dream: Myths & Legends’. You can get your copy of this book here!
I would like to send out a special thank you and acknowledgement to Melinda for all her kind support for my book project.
For the reduction process, I will be including the first names (only) of those participating and also any of the associated writing that has been included. I have chosen to use tissue paper as one of the reduction materials because it is highly flammable.
I hope you will consider participating in this meaningful project, or pass it along to someone who might be interested. I will be accepting submissions until midnight October 29th!

I am so grateful for this last call! I saw this the other day and was too overwhelmed to respond. I’m in such a season of death and rebirth. Many details that are unimportant… mainly I need to let go of my need to control the outcome and to trust the process. To trust that everything is working out the way it should though it doesn’t “feel” like it. Thanks for bringing others along in this healing journey! Sherri

Yes, the fall colors were still there but not as brilliant as I expected. Could be because we had a long hot summer.
