Rock Me Like a Hurricane

Our power is out! We survived the hurricane without any damage to our home. Here are a few images of damage around us as we search for a warm cup of coffee.

Guess we aren’t driving that way!
A new island has formed, inhabited only by bovines.

Access to internet will be intermittent. I hope everyone is safe. Sending good vibes.

  1. A jug well spritzed of ammonia keeps stank water-log stanks at Bay. Water it down as ammonia is otherwise ….breath-taking…. And as a watered down product it is less likely to brown the grass and yet ultimately be a mild nourish to the world.

    1. Thank you for the great tip! Power is restored and things are slowly being put in order. Hope you are having a good day 😉

    1. Thank you so much Joe! We had our power restored today and things are starting to get back into order with minimal damage. I hope you are doing well and having a good day.

  3. Great that you and yours are all right! I hope power is restored soon. While it’s out, make a list of supplies you would want in case of another outage and plan accordingly.

I live in a region that has at least two major power outages a year. Having a solar lamp, crank radio, and subzero sleeping bag takes away some of the panic in the winter.

    1. Thank you for your kind thoughts and wishes! I have started doing just that and we are going to create a nice little emergency kit. We have not had power outages for years, but after this I have learned we can be better prepared, and I imagine there will only be more in the future. I hope you are having a good week.

    1. Thank you so much for that Taylor. Your kindness is very much appreciated. We had our power restored today, so things are looking up 😉 I hope you are well.

    1. haha! When the hurricane was going we had a little bit on how long it would take for a radio station to play that song. It did not take long 😉 Hope you are well!

  4. There was a hurricane?? 😉

Also– wise decision. Turn around. Don’t drown. Hope you’re back up and powered on asap.

    1. Thanks! As much as I can appreciate the intensity of a good storm, just getting power back today was not so fun 😉 LOL I hope you are well and safe. Are you in NC? Were you impacted too?

      1. No – luckily we r far inland in northwestern Virginia (almost West Virginia). We had some clouds and a pleasant breeze when Dorian passed by. I was on the Outer banks a couple years ago when Hermine blew through- it was a tropical storm and it was a wild end to our vacay. I would not want to have been there during Dorian!

    1. Thank you so much Don! It was pretty intense, but the power came back on today, so things are slowly getting back to normal. Hope you are well.

    1. I am happy to hear you guys were okay too and got no damage. You are correct we are all so blessed to be safe! I hope you are well and having a good week.

    1. Thank you so much! The power just came back on today! Very grateful for that, and your comment. I hope you are having a good week!

  5. I am glad to know you are safe! I lived through many hurricanes while living in FL, thus one of the reasons I live in northwest GA. Wow! Dorian was a real hellion!

    1. Thank you so much Eugenia! The power was just restored today. Dorian has been the subject of a number of choice adjectives in these parts 😉

    1. I am glad you got that reference! I *might* have been singing that as the storm was first starting 😉

    1. Thank you so much! The power is back on today and things are now much improved. I appreciate your kind thoughts and hope you are having a great day!

  6. Thanks for liking one of my “books I own” posts today. Love your pottery, especially the vases. I’ve added a link in my list to your site so I can come back and explore more sometime. What hurricane was this? Was it Dorian?

    1. Thank you for your kind comment David! I have just followed your site on wordpress so I can explore your site more. It was Hurricane Dorian that caused so much chaos here. I hope you are well and having a great start to your day.

  7. Oh man.. I lived in Florida and remember all too well the changes a hurricane can bring. Some people feel God punishes bad people by using disasters such as this. But that’s just not the case. It affects all walks of life. James 1:13 tells us God does not cause such atrocities. It’s just the system in which we live.

    1. Thanks for sharing. For me, God is all about love. I don’t blame him for a thing Unfortunately suffering is a part of life. The positive side of this is that challenges and adversity helps us grow as people and in our spirituality. I hope you are having a great week so far.

      1. That is good. Suffering is definitely not a part of the original plan for mankind. Soon it will be done away with. Revelation 21:3–4 ♡
