Come Into The Light

This summer has been interesting, challenging, heart wrenching and also beautiful.

Some of you may recall that I have been dealing with the loss of a family member. You can read more about that experience here.

Parts of this summer have been downright dark and heavy, but I have been actively working on lightening things up and dwelling in a more positive emotional space.

My creativity, and pottery has helped pull my mind out of some dark places during this experience, and what better time than now to make my first lamp!

What do you think of my new lamp?

I am also excited to let all of my readers know that my first solo art show for pottery will be opening this weekend at the Oxford Gallery in Nova Scotia. The name of the show is ‘The Myth of Family’ and I feel truly grateful for the opportunity to share my work.

I am hoping to have a video posted next Saturday of my exhibit so that I can share that experience with those of you that are kind enough to visit this blog. If you want to make sure you see the video, you can subscribe to my blog here to make sure you get an email notification of that and other blog posts that I make.

It is a busy and exciting time here at the Alchemist’s Studio and I want to take this opportunity to thank all of my regular reader’s for joining me on this adventure. Your support means everything to me and helps propel my work to new heights!

    1. Thank you so much for your very kind words! I have been wanting to combine the light that seems to come from some of the raku pieces with actual lighting. That is one of the things I love the most about raku, how the colour changes in different lighting. I hope you are having a wonderful week!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind comment and wishes. It is a struggle to make space for healing and keep forward momentum and inertia, but I am working on finding that balance. I hope you are having a wonderful week so far!

  2. I find distracting yourself with creative endeavors really is the best way of dealing with the sudden loss of a loved one- or being gradually ghosted by one. Alcohol not so much.

    1. haha! I agree with you, though I can’t say that I have not tried both 😉 With the second one I find I have usually woken up feeling emotionally worse, and then physically horrible too, so it does not happen much these days.
