Those of you who are new to my blog, might be wondering what is a ‘Name that Vase’ post. I am asking any of you talented writers, poets or dreamers out there who may be interested to ….
Name that Vase! Here is where you can suggest a name, create a story, poem or prose for this raku pottery vase. Consider this your chance to be inspired, a writing prompt or a creative cue.
In August, we will announce the name of the winner! We look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with! So feel free to add your contribution in the comments below! You can check out more vase stories here by clicking on the images of the raku vases on the page.
But before we can proceed to all the fun, I must apologize for not yet naming the winning idea for the May edition of ‘Name that Vase’. As some of you may know last month was a tough one for me, with a loss in the family.
The name that resonated with us most for this piece was ‘Jovian Moon’ and was submitted by David Redpath, who has some incredible written pieces that you can see here. Thank you for suggesting this name, that fit perfectly for this piece!
I want to thank all of those who participated in the May edition of ‘Name that Vase’. You all make it very tough to choose just one name.
I also want to thank all of my readers for your patience with my absence. Things are starting to happen again here and in the pottery and I am excited about sharing some of those highlights with you again. I appreciate your support and kind words!

Of course. I had to look up that language since I never heard of it before. It’s a First Nations language and ethnic group? Cool!

“Wolf’s Blood Moon.”
Know that legend that goes that the wolf goes hunting at the full moon? Your silver vase with the littles circles remind me of the moon with craters. And then there’s that gorgeous streak of red! Thus the suggestion. 😀

It’s so beautiful. I would call it “Phoenix Reborn” for several reasons. First is a little on the nose since it’s Raku and forged in flame. The second is because, if I read your blog properly, this is the first work you have finished since your sad loss. Lastly because July has been stupid hot for almost everyone everywhere so this could be a lovely harbinger of cooler times since it’s out of the flames and hopefully so are we all.
