Elphaba & Evangeline & News!

Today, I have a few new vases I would like to show you, but first I have some exciting news for you all!

This is the last day of our spring pottery sale! Want a vase to call your own? Until May 15th, we are having a sale here at the Alchemistโ€™s Studio. All raku vases (regularly $50 and up depending on size and effects) and owls (regularly $75) are 10% off, and any of our Christmas merchandise is 15% off!

I will honour the above discount for anyone that gets in touch with me by the end of the day.

And if that was not exciting enough, today I am going to drop off a few pieces at a retail location here in Nova Scotia. More news on this to come!

Some of you may have noticed that I have added two new vases to my raku pottery vase gallery:

These two vases are named after two literary protagonists!

Evangeline is named after the fictional historical figure immortalized by the epic poem by Longfellow that tells her story set during the Acadian Expulsion.

Elphaba celebrates the life of the fictional Wicked Witch of the West of OZ fame before she became the Wicked Witch of the West through a set of circumstances that were not entirely wicked.

You can learn more about these vases by clicking on the links above.

In the spirit of my new retail adventures and to help inspire you on a Wednesday, here is a song to help get you over the hump.

What in this world makes you feel like you are defying gravity?

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Sherrie! I hope you are having a wonderful day!

  1. In a sense I defy gravity every morning I get up. I retired almost a year ago and I am defying all the rules of what a retired person is. I don’t sit at home and rock slowly on my front porch. I took an art class at the university. I’ll take another one in the fall. I save badly located wild flowers (found on my own property) and transplant them to safe locations in my yard. I’m creating a safe bird habitat and a future butterfly oasis is planned. I’m finally living life on my terms…mostly.

    1. I love this comment! It made me smile to read that you defy gravity each morning that you wake up ๐Ÿ˜‰ It sounds like you are doing some great things. What kind of art class are you taking?

There is a bird house on the top of my studio building and I expect that we will be seeing some babies soon! I plan on putting a few more up!

I love that you are saving the wildflowers! I try to have as many bee friendly plants, because I love bees and the pollinators help with my veggie and berry patch ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. I just finished a Fibers Art class at Missouri State University–as a senior citizen student I get 1 class a semester under their tuition waver program.

    1. Thanks Phil! It has been going well ๐Ÿ˜‰ I just got back from a local shop where I dropped off many of my wares as well. I hope all is going well with you too and your creative ventures.

    1. Thank you Krishna! The spring sale went well and there are vases travelling to their new homes which always puts a big smile on my face! I am wishing you well in all you do !

  2. Both vases are stunning and I am leaning toward Evangeline as a favorite. Of course, my very favorite is Winds of Neptune. I defy gravity every day by getting up and being grateful for each day. I am retired but determined to stay active and relevant. Rock on!

  3. I really love the winds of Neptune as well! That is the best way to defy gravity and the way to live! Gratitude and positive action to learn and grow, it never ends from what I can see. And you bless us with your beautiful words, which makes you more than relevant. Keep rocking on!

    1. Thank you so much for your very kind words! It is one of my favourite pieces! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
