First and foremost I want to thank you, all of those who read my posts and comment on my blog posts. Not only do you inspire me to continue my artistic pursuits and this blog, but I get to learn so much from all of you.
Last week one of my readers, Maxwanette was inspired to write a beautiful poem about the vase that now bears the name of her lovely poem ‘Kintsukuroi’.
And she inspired me in many ways. Maybe her words will inspire you too! You can check our her website, Poetry Language of the Soul here!
And got me to thinking about why I called my pottery the Alchemist’s Studio.
Alchemy is all about transformation.
Kintsukuroi, the golden mend, is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery using lacquer resin laced with gold or silver.
I think it is safe to say that we are all bumped around a bit in life and have a few chips and cracks in us. Sometimes these chips and cracks feel impossible to fix, but they are not.
How do you take personal trauma or grief and honour your experience by turning it into something positive?
It seems we all have this choice to make.
You can allow anger or sadness to take root and dwell in that, giving your trauma or grief absolute power over you, allowing it to spill into other relationships.
Or you can decide to be an Alchemist.
You can take your pain, trauma and heartache and transform it into your golden mend.
How you do this depends on you. For me this path has involved forgiveness and gratitude for the good things I have in my life. They are opportunities to allow light to shine through the cracks.
I have found that such experiences are great teachers of compassion and love, if you allow them to be. You can be a source of light and use your experiences to help others who have experienced the same thing and are not as far along the path of transformation and healing.
When we transform our pain into love we make the world a better place.
Which brings me to one of my favourite Ghandi quotes, and bumper sticker:
Very interesting work indeed!
Thank you so much!
👍

Always welcome dear 😊
Your wise words and your work go hand in hand! Both are true works of art.
Thank you so much for your very kind words Eugenia! I hope you are having a wonderful week!
As I writer, I use words to drain away negative emotions. I think that’s why so much of my writing is on the dark side. Occasionally, something positive inspires me, but not often. 🙂
Writing can be a very powerful healing tool. I think that is a very interesting reflection on your work as a writer and there is much beauty in the idea that the darkness brings you light. I hope you are having a fantastic week!
And I hope you are as well. 🙂
It’s off to a busy and good start so far 😉
