Bowling on the Pottery Wheel

Knocking down pins?

Or working on a new set of dishes on the pottery wheel?

This week, watch the Alchemist in action, throwing and trimming a bowl! I am currently working on replacing the dishes at home and am about to glaze my set of bowls.

      1. It happens to me fairly regularly on WordPress. Sometimes it seems to be about the country of origin but I’m never sure. 🙃

      2. Did you try right in youtube? It is strange, because I am in Canada and have never heard that before.

      3. I usually read from reader on the app. It doesn’t seem to be related to country specifically as one video share may not allow me to see but the next one you post I won’t have any trouble with. A mystery. Perhaps it’s a more of a WordPress thing.

    1. Thanks! I hope you have a great day and don’t forget to checkout and subscribe to my youtube channel!

    1. Thanks for your kind words! Maybe it is some kind of copyright restrictions on the song? I hope you have a great weekend.

    1. You really should if you get the chance. It never ceases to amaze the things that you can do! I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. That is amazing! I am so glad to hear that! What did you make in your first class?

      1. Thatis awesome! Congrats. Please post it once it is glazed. I would love to see it!

  1. Just had my first class on the wheel, ended up making a candle holder after the instructor saw that I had not smoothed the center down along with the edges (the goal she said was to make a “hockey puck”) and said “looks like you have a candle holder working there…”, and I went with it. I observed the same thing happen to others (even those with experience): one is usually smart to go with the shape that is emerging, which means not getting too controlled about it…

    1. Congrats on your first class and making something. When I first started out that was exactly what I did, I let the clay tell me the shape it wanted to be. I still do that, but now I can also have an idea and plan how to make the piece. I hope you enjoy the rest of your classes

      1. I immediately attempted to make a matching candle holder, and of course it was very difficult. I’d say the second one is “in the genre” of the first one, a good lesson in how challenging the wheel is

      2. It is so true! All my friends think the wheel is easy – until I let them try it!
