It has been a couple of weeks since I have posted. Sometimes life gets too fast and you have to slow down. There were many delays in getting the materials I needed to move forward with my current projects.
But those delays have ended. You may remember that I was working on some sculptures. You can learn more about how this piece was built and created here.
Here is what the completed sculpture looked like glazed, before firing:
What a lovely shade of mint green! It kind of reminded me of this peppermint candies that were pastel with round sprinkles on top.
And here is your first peak at my new raku sculpture:
My goal when glazing this piece for the raku was to get some of the red/brown metallic colours on the piece of the trunk and some of golden silvery metallic colours elsewhere. Imagine my delight and excitement that I was able to recreate these effects on one piece! Not too mention the iridescence that was just an added bonus!
You can see more pictures of the ‘Remembrance of Trees’ here! What do you think of the sculpture, now that you have seen it start to finish? Do you like the glazing on this piece, and if so what is your favourite part?
My apologies to anyone who sent messages over the past week or two, I will be getting back to everyone soon.
If you have not already done so yet, please subscribe to our newsletter here! I am planning a spring giveaway and sale soon for my subscribers!
Absolutely stunning. Nice work!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope you have an amazing week ahead!
Good to have you back

Busy with ‘stuff’
So lovely!
A sale! Can’t wait to tell Missy!
haha! She always has so much on her plate it seems!
I love the iridescence–the tree is Beautiful!
Thanks! That is also my favourite part of the sculpture too 😉
🙂
I loved seeing the steps along the way!
Thanks! I don’t always document things, but in this case, I thought it might be worth it! I hope you are having a great day and thanks for stopping by!
So cool!
That thing looks serious! Tree claw hand breaking through the cracks of the earth, born into this mess, a true freak, risen from our collective pain and suffering. A work of art.
Thanks! I felt like that after I stayed up all night making it! It was quite cathartic. I hope you are having a great week so far.
In particular I like the darker tones on the branches. Reminds me of some old Pondersa that’s scarred by numerous wild fires but still living
Thanks! I can see what you are saying. I was not really sure what the raku effects would do on that part of the sculpture, it was actually my biggest concern in terms of glazing, so it is nice to hear that you like it. I hope you are having a great day!
Beautiful creation 😊❤ I love the glazing. Every part is amazing 😊
Thank you so much for your very kind words! I am glad you liked the piece. I hope you have an amazing week!
Thank you 😊🙏 amazing week to you too
What a beautiful tree! I thought it looked cool in mint green until I saw the finished piece. The metallic colors and minute details in the tree bark are amazing. I also really like the way the colors transition along the trunk until they darken toward the tips of the branches. Congrats! You have very successfully brought this tree to life.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comments! It was a lot of work, so I am happy it turned out as well. I love the iridescent parts the most. I hope you have a great week 😉
Thanks. You too!
This is really beautiful!
Thank you so much. I hope you have a great day!
You too 🙂
I love the glazing. I see in one spot a gentle facial expression and in an overall way I see a hand reaching forth in searching and acceptance. An invitation of sorts. A lovely curve and flow as well. Beautiful. 🌷
Thanks for your kind words. Is the face you see near the top of the trunk above the curve? I love your description it captures many of the elements I was going for. I hope you have a great day!
Yes the face is up there! I’m so glad because it’s a warm and beautiful work. Thank you! You have a creative day too 💐

Lovely work! I do like raku, and I understand you never really know how it will turn out. Is that true? It’s kind of like darkroom work, which I love. You never know what will come up in the developer! It is magical. Thanks for liking my blog too (Natural Views).
Thanks for your kind words. You are correct in that you do not know the precise results with some of the glazes. The results are do to a number of different variables. I like to see my raku glazes have tendencies.
Well done
Thanks! Hope your week is going well.
