No, this is not a post about my dreams, though I used to interpret a friend’s dreams in university. Rather it is a clue to which name was chosen for our latest ‘Name That Vase’ post. Be sure to check out that post to see all the great names and ideas.
All of you lovely readers did not make the choice easy for me! There were so many ideas that resonated with me for the piece.
Meanwhile, back in the studio, my two sculptures made it through the firing! You can read more about their creation here.
I am excited to get on with the glazing! Unfortunately, I need to order a few more ingredients for the more delicate piece.
In my title, I mentioned ‘Dreams’ – which is a nod to the successful name for the vase. I also mentioned waiting.
Want to know what the most important component of pottery is? The ability to wait. You are always waiting in pottery. Waiting for a piece to dry, waiting for the kiln to reach temperature, waiting for the clay to be firm enough to work with, and yes, even waiting for your order from the the pottery supply. Kind of like you are waiting for me to tell you the name we chose for the vase.
All this waiting got me thinking about a piece I did a few years back.
Upside down, could a variation of this be tree branches? This piece is shockingly light, and I feel the building technique could be the basis of a fully branched tree. Plus I need to make a few more of these fruit bowls.

Maybe our next ‘Name that Vase’ post should be chosen by my readers? What do you think?

Congratulations on getting your two new sculptures successfully through the firing phase – I bet that waiting was particularly brutal. Can’t wait to see them all glazed up, and what you come up with next.
