Easter Colours & Vote

raku vases

I hope everyone has had a great week!

I have been exploring some new raku pottery glazing techniques lately. Or at least new to me. This particular piece has a very ‘Easter’ feel to it. I like how the blues and pinks have blended and all of the different textures on the piece, but this is not the end of my experimentation. I would like to work towards creating a glaze effect with these colours that is softer and has more of a watercolour effect.

There will be another ‘Name that Vase’ post next week, and I thought it might be fun to have my readers choose which vase will be featured next.

Which vase would you like to see featured next?

I am also wondering how people might feel about having my readers choose the name for my next vase from the submissions?

    1. Now that I think about it, I have a question. Are we choosing between two vases or three? If only two–not counting the “Easter” one, I’m voting for #1.

      1. I was only originally asking people to choose between two of the vases, but if enough people are interested in the Easter one, I will add it 😉 Thanks for clarifying your pick! Have an amazing weekend 😉

    2. Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging words! I hope you are having a beautiful week.

    1. Thanks for your kind words and I had not considered adding the first one to the mix for the Name that Vase, but if people are most interested in that one, that is what I will do!

    1. Thanks for your kind words. I think that underwater wall hanging might need to come out of your head and into the world! I bet it would/will be quite lovely!

  1. I admire your passion for this hobby. These are beautiful. Each one has taken on a life of it’s own. If I had to choose which vase to buy, I’d pick #2.. So I’m going to go with that for the next feature. It’s such a unique shape.

    1. Thanks for your kind words. I feel pretty lucky that I get to play with clay! Thanks for choosing a vase and I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Wow, thanks! That vase was meant as a test, so I really appreciate your comment. If you are ever interested in making it yours, feel free to send me an email 😉

  2. How beautiful they all are! It’s the middle vase of the three which stands out for me; how I would love to own that one!! It gets my vote (though no inspiration yet when it comes to a name!)

  3. hello! I am new to word press and find it next to impossible to find out how to talk to fellow bloggers. Now that I have found this space, to say hello, how do I find you on twitter? I can’t find your twitter handle. I’ve got raku peeps in my twitterland. I want to share your work. I love it 🙂

  5. I love them all! Vase #1 is my fav because I love the blue and rust colors! It has the look of autumn, my favorite time of the year, and it would go well with my decor.

  6. Absolutely beautiful. I’m sure the pictures don’t give the pottery and their unique glazes their full justice! Your pictures do make me want to touch and hold your pottery. I get the same feeling when I look at stones!

    1. Thanks so much for your very kind and generous comment. Pottery can be tricky to photograph well, but slowly I am learning. I am glad my pieces invoke a response where you want to touch them and experience them with a different sense. That is great to hear! I hope you have an amazing weekend and thanks again!

      1. Please know that my comments are 100% sincere…some blog folk think I’m merely kind, but I wouldn’t waste my energy in flattery. I truly love your pottery and the colors really are glorious–kind of Easter-y, as you mentioned. Great weekend so far, got lots of writing done, baked Pound Cake, and later today I’ll make homemade mac & cheese for my sweet neighbor who helps me with errands sometimes 🙂 I was thinking of you earlier–when I found a quote to post later which reminded me of a late friend who was Canadian and a nurse…you’ll read it, perhaps 🙂 Have a blessed day! <3

      2. I really appreciate your supportive comments about my pottery and it means a lot! You have a lucky neighbour homemade mac n cheese is very yummy (as is Pound Cake!) You were not lying when you said you got lots of writing done this weekend! I just spent some time on your website and one of your pieces made me smile and laugh 😉 There is a lightness and beauty in how you use words . I hope you have a great evening!

      3. Oh my, you are so precious! The mac & cheese was a hit…and I’m now cutting the 2nd loaf of Pound Cake, arrgghh! 🙂 Thank you so much for reading my many posts, and for your wonderful comments! Blessings to you as we begin a new week <3

      4. I am glad the mac n cheese was a hit 😉 Now I am going to be thinking of Pound Cake! I am sure I will be reading more of your writing in the future! Thanks for the nice conversations!

      5. I have a recipe for it, but if you want to give away your best pound cake recipe, I will give that a try 😉

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words! I have a few videos throwing on the wheel. I have not done any glazing videos yet. I hope you have a great weekend!

  7. All three are beautiful, but the second holds most spring images for me. It looks like blooming bushes and above it blue sky. Amazing. 🙂
