As many of my regular followers and readers know, I often name the vases I create and write a little story. Usually I pull from my knowledge of mythology or pop-culture to tell a tale that has the right piece for the raku pottery vase.
This particular vase has been known as ’44’, and it is time it had a name and a story!
That is where you come in! I am asking any of you talented writers, poets or dreamers who may be interested to ….
Name that Vase!
And create your own unique short story, poem, prose or even a random thought!
I have included an example of one of my vases with a name and a story here! You can also check out our page of vases, which mostly have stories.

I would call it a “copper tear”.
I imagine a female giant who is made of copper. Her partner has left her to go to war against the ice giants of the North. When she realises he will never return she begins to cry copper tears but the ice giants bring winter to her land and the tears freeze leaving copper frost layering the outside of them…….

I call the color Crackled Dawn.
It had rained for three days. Three long shadowed, sulking days. She wondered if she would ever see the sun again. To find her way to her secret woods that could only be found by sunlight. No matter, she mused, slipping out of bed. I’m going today no matter rain or no rain. She needed to get out. And when she pushed the curtains back, a smile hit her lips. The crackled dawn told her that today was the day.

So beautiful! You could call it Persephone…it has the copper of autumn when she leaves to be with her husband Hades, and the green of spring when she returns to her mother Demeter.

After all the heartache, she certainly got the best of both worlds! LOL I would be a little worried if I ran into her somewhere and she said … ‘See you in six months’!

Although I was unable to come up with a name myself, I think my imagination was more intrigued by what type and color of flower I would put in the vase. Perhaps a challenge for another time?!?

Yes, a Black Iris. Here is a link to an article and the first photo has some golden orange tones that would go nicely with some of the coppery orange tones in your vase. The deep purple would complete a color triad with the green and orange tones as well. It is a strong flower, but I think that is what this strong vase needs. (In the past I have bought vases specifically for particular cut flowers from my garden!)

Mount St. Helen’s Risen from the Ashes. It reminds me of glasswear made from the ash of the Mount St. Helen’s volcano eruption in the early 1980’s. Beautiful works!
